The CSPA (Center for Sustainable Practice in the Arts) organizes an annual convergence that gathers industry leaders, educators, students and the general public to share ideas and celebrate the year’s innovations.
This year, we’re taking the Convergence to the road. We’ll be converging in two cities, and in between, on an all-inclusive weekend getaway! Exploring human impact on the Earth, and Art’s impact on human impact, we’ll discuss environmental justice, urban nature, and what it means to be an artist who brings environmental issues to the public.
The Convergence begins Friday, Sept 3rd in Los Angeles with a LA River Walk, followed by visits to key Los Angeles sites with presentations, with lunch and dinner provided. The Convergence continues Saturday, departing LA beginning the bus sessions, interrupted by the Invisible 5 Audio Tour and select stops, with breakfast, lunch, and snacks provided. On Sunday morning the Convergence begins in San Francisco with the Nature Tour, followed by lunch and afternoon sessions featuring Patricia Watts/EcoArtSpace, Laura Parker, Nik Bertulis and more...and curated by Moe Beitiks. The Convergence ends on Monday, Sept 6th, departing San Francisco in the morning for a guided highway tour down the 101, with bus writing sessions, presentations, and meals provided...arriving back in Los Angeles at 6pm.

The Center for Sustainable Practice in the Arts (CSPA) provides a network of resources to artists and arts organizations, which will enable them to become ecologically and economically sustainable while maintaining artistic excellence and innovation. The CSPA views sustainability through three lenses: environmentalism, economic stability, and cultural infrastructure. The center was founded by Ian Garrett and Miranda Wright in 2008 and is currently operating out of the greater Los Angeles area.
