The Journey of the Global ARC 2010 starts in Vancouver, Canada and ends in Tijuana, Mexico (spanning three countries and roughly 2000 miles). We will be exploring watersheds, foodsheds, and energy systems along the West Coast of North America by bicycle with a biodiesel support vehicle and film crew. The purpose of the Journey is to draw attention to, document and archive a range of community-based solutions (urban and rural projects focused on water, food and energy/transportation) as part of our larger effort to inspire sustainability action research and bridge sustainability solutions worldwide (aka, connecting the dots).

The Global ARC is building progressive, community-based partnerships and tools to help share, grow, and bridge sustainability solutions around the world. The Global ARC is led by a mix of educators, researchers, scientists, professionals and community organizers all of whom are dedicated to critical study, open dialog, social learning and creative problem solving. We concentrate on community‐based challenges and solutions concerning water, food and energy sustainability.
